Coach Chris - Founder and Head Coach
Chris Ofstad was the Head Coach for Canoga Park High School’s Girls Varsity and JV teams. This is where he played for four years in High School prior to playing in community college. Chris created HYPE Basketball in 2019 with one team for his son and players he had the privilege of coaching as a volunteer coach in the community. His commitment in taking athletes of all levels and developing each one to be better is how he organically grew HYPE to what it is today.

Coach Ken – Assistant Coach
Coach Ken and Chris met while coaching basketball in the community. They share a passion for teaching youth sports. Ken started the Challenger Division, which is for developmentally and disabled children in his son’s baseball little league. He serves on the board for Sunrise Little League and Taft Baseball. He believes mentoring kids is an absolute privilege and enjoys mentoring youth of all ages.

Coach Gabe – Assistant Coach
Coach Gabe has been playing basketball since the age of 10 and values the many lessons it has taught him over the years. For the past six years, he has coached youth basketball and strongly believes in team play, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the details needed for group success. Coach Gabe led his youth basketball team to an undefeated season and a championship victory in the summer of 2023! He enjoys watching players develop, grow in their skills, build confidence, and most importantly, have fun on the court! In addition to basketball, Coach Gabe is a longtime supporter of youth sports, serving as a licensed soccer referee and supporting his daughter’s soccer club team where needed.
As a lifelong Lakers fan, you can often spot him in his collection of hats, Mamba shirts, and Kobe sneakers. Go Lakers!

Theresa Ofstad– Program Director & Administrator
Theresa Ofstad is the Administrator and Program Director for HYPE Basketball. She is Coach Chris’ wife and Trenton’s mom, the three of them collaborated on ideas when HYPE was created in 2019. She watched Chris coach and cheered on Trenton when playing basketball since 2010. Both Theresa and Chris monitor the HYPE email account and are available for questions anytime. Theresa helps plan tournaments, travel, team dinners, and team activities, as well as helped set up our nonprofit 501c(3) business license.
